Western Australia Information
At 2,500,000 sq km, Western Australia is Australia’s biggest state, taking up the entire western portion of the continent. This diverse state is a welcoming combination of sunny weather, blue skies, adventure, awe-inspiring scenery and friendly people. With activity choices ranging from diving with whale sharks, swimming with wild dolphins, discovering ocean life while snorkeling or exploring the wide open outback and some of its’ fantastic wildlife and rock formations, Western Australia is a state that embraces relaxation even within its’ numerous activities.
Perth, the capital city of Western Australia, is said to have more hours of sunshine than any other Australian capital city. This friendly city sits beside the tranquil waters of the Swan River and is proud to hold the beautiful Kings Park and Botanic Gardens within the city’s business district, allowing many to enjoy natures beauty whenever they choose.
The city of Perth opens its’ doors to visitors to enjoy a river cruise, fine restaurants, shopping or even a visit to Perth Zoo.
Bordering along the Indian Ocean, there are many beautiful beaches within Perth and along Western Australia’s shores, which visitors can escape to. The pristine waters allow for great fishing spots, surfing, snorkeling and diving.
Western Australia is also home to some of the best Outback farms and stations. If you’re interested in a true Aussie adventure, leave the bustling city behind and experience, first hand, the outback lifestyle. A farmstay will allow you to enjoy a peaceful existence of campfires, starry skies and early morning bushwalks, and even allow you to get involved with some farm duties. Collecting eggs or learning to milk a cow, is all a part of the excitement and fun of a real Australian Outback adventure.
595 kilometres northeast of Perth, lies the town of Kalgoorlie. Located within the Eastern Goldfield region of Western Australia, here visitors can experience an even quieter city lifestyle or choose to participate in an Aboriginal Bush Tour. Yamatji Bitja Aboriginal Bush Tours are all individually tailored and guided by Aboriginal guides. These tours allow you the chance to learn more about the local Aboriginal lifestyle, hunting, bush craft and even the chance to sample some kangaroo meat. Yum.
Situated, 330 kilometres east of Perth, is the little town of Hyden. Lying within the centre of Western Australia’s wheatbelt district, Hyden is also home to one of Australia’s most famous rock formations, Wave Rock. This ancient rock formation forms a multicoloured arch and, as its’ name suggests, looks like a giant wave. Wave Rock reaches 15 metres from the ground and is more than 100 metres long.
Western Australia is a state, which offers relaxation, welcoming people, the chance to experience a real Australian Outback adventure and even a chance to witness some of the country’s most famous sites.
