Victoria
Victoria in Australia
Once referred to as the Garden state, Victoria is Australia’s smallest state in area and second only to New South Wales in population. Although it may be the smallest state, however, Victoria has a lot to offer within the diversity of its’ beautiful regions. From ski resorts, lush rainforests, vast golden deserts and tumbling ocean cliffs, Victoria boasts both natural beauty and a keen knowledge in major sporting, fashion and cultural events.
With a lively and active buzz, Melbourne is Victoria’s capital city. Here you can enjoy chic restaurants and boutiques, watch major sporting events and take in the sophisticated melting pot style that is Melbourne. If you’re there at the right time, you might even get to watch the Australian Open Tennis live or, if you prefer racing, watch the Qantas Australia Grand Prix.
If you’re eager to escape the buzz for some quiet time, a visit to Phillip Island Nature Park is the place to go. Just ninety minutes from Melbourne, Phillip Island Nature Park is celebrated as Australia’s most popular natural wildlife attraction. Here you can watch penguins waddle on the beach at dusk, visit marine wildlife at the Nobbies Centre, experience koalas in their natural surroundings at the Koala Conservation Centre and even meet farm animals at Churchill Island, a historic island farm.
If you’re somewhat of a wine connoisseur, just an hour outside Melbourne, you will be sure to enjoy Yarra Valley and Dandenong Ranges. With some of the world’s best wines produced here, you can enjoy a visit to one of the areas wineries or possibly even stroll through one of the beautiful fruit orchards, market gardens or flower farms.
If you’re interested in discovering more about Victoria’s Aboriginal heritage, you can learn about local Aboriginal traditions and legends by taking a tour with an Aboriginal guide through The Murray area. The Murray region runs beside the Murray River, which forms the border between New South Wales and Victoria. Apart from discovering local Aboriginal traditions, you can also explore historic towns or even rent your very own houseboat and explore the towns, golf courses and restaurants that line the banks of The Murray River. If you’re eager for the Australian Outback, then venture away from the lush green riverbank and you will find the stark beauty of the barren Outback.
Although Victoria may be Australia’s smallest state, it offers its’ visitors the world.
