Australian Dion Beebe picked up this year’s best cinematography Oscar for his work on the lavish film "Memoirs of a Geisha". Brisbane born Beebe, who studied at Sydney's Australian Film, Television and Radio School, was also the cinematographer on "Collateral", "In the Cut", "Charlotte Grey" and "Chicago". Other Oscar-winning Australian cinematographers include John Seale ("The English Patient"), Andrew Lesnie ("Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring"), Dean Semmler ("Dances with Wolves") and Russell Boyd ("Master and Commander").
